AUSTIN, TX, August 15, 2012 — Employees of Chasse Consulting: Sales Strategies, Inc., a leading sales strategy performance and translation firm, were all on hand Friday Aug. 10 at the North Austin Events Center to volunteer at the annual Manos de Cristo Back-to-School Program.
The event allows more than 2,000 pre-kindergarten to fifth grade students and their parents to visit with Manos de Cristo volunteers to choose school supplies and clothing for the upcoming school year. Chasse Consulting employees volunteered their time as part of the company’s annual charity initiative to help children select their clothes and make crafts in preparation for their first day of school. This is the company’s fourth year to participate in the program.
“There is nothing more rewarding than seeing the enthusiasm in the children’s’ eyes,” Chasse Consulting Executive Assistant Cheryl Weeks said. “Their appreciation and excitement is a great reminder of how fortunate I am in life, and keeps me focused on what really matters and how crucial it is to continuously give back to the community.”
Community service is a guiding principle of the Chasse Consulting company mission and a core tenet of the company’s original founding. In fact, president and CEO Beverly Chasse began the organization as a means to provide her with the financial resources to support her passion for mission work.
Employees are encouraged annually to dedicate 10 percent of their skill or resources to a charitable event of their choosing, a company practice since 2002. Beverly Chasse, the current board president of Manos de Cristo, is also heavily involved in other community service projects, including various national and international philanthropic organizations like World Vision and Charity: Water.
Asked why she thought volunteer events like these are important, Chasse said:
“As I looked around at the event, and looked not only at the faces of our employees but at the faces of their children who also volunteered, I realized that we’re not only giving back to our community as a company, but we are raising children to see the importance of giving to those truly in need.”
