Helping Hands: Chasse preps kids for back-to-school

AUSTIN, TX, August 9, 2010 — Employees of Austin-based business consultancy Chasse Consulting Sales Strategies Inc. were on hand Monday to volunteer at the annual Manos de Cristo Back-to-School Program.

The event allows more than 2,000 pre-kindergarten to fifth grade students and their parents to visit with Manos volunteers to choose school supplies, backpacks and clothing for the upcoming school year. Chasse employees offered their time as part of the company’s annual charity initiative.

“It’s an experience I am wonderfully grateful for,” Chasse technical writer Sheryl Floyd said. “In many ways I think, as employees, we gained more satisfaction than the kids did, simply because not only did we send them off with supplies but with smiles too, and, hopefully, excitement for the new year.”

Community service is a guiding principle of the Chasse company mission. Employees are encouraged annually to dedicate 10 percent of their skill or resources to a charitable event of their choosing, a company practice since 2002. President and CEO Beverly Chasse, a current member of Manos de Cristos board of directors, is also heavily involved in community service, including work with the West Hills Presbyterian Church and various national and international philanthropic organizations like World Vision, Charity: Water and St. Jude Children’s Hospital. She also recently spent two weeks in Zambia, Africa where she met with locals to discuss the need for education around AIDS and the need to address key issues such as the lack of food and a sanitary water supply.

“Manos de Cristo provides critical programs to our Austin impoverished. To give back to this community of wonderful people is simply the right thing to do, “ Chasse said. “As an organization, the Chasse Consulting team thrives on working with Manos de Cristo. It is a blessing that we have the means help, and I hope that more people discover this wonderful charity.”

Quenching Thirst: Chasse Donates Water Wells to African Village

AUSTIN, TX, July 17, 2010 – In an effort to aid the nearly one billion people who go without clean drinking water every day, Beverly Chasse, President and CEO of Chasse Consulting: Sales Strategies Inc., recently donated three freshwater wells to an Ethiopian village in partnership with the non-profit organization Charity: Water.

Since 2006, Charity: Water has dedicated itself to providing sanitary drinking conditions to villagers living in conflict-ridden nations of the third world. Lack of a clean hydration source and basic sanitation are the root cause of the 80 percent of diseases that kill more people every year than all forms of violence, including war. Charity: Water uses 100 percent of its public donations to combat this worldwide water crisis that is responsible for the deaths of 4,500 children daily. Providing safe drinking water is not only critical in preventing these illnesses, but also helps curb rape, abduction and murder rates.

Each of the donated freshwater wells supply 250+ people with a clean water source, and, by constructing these water wells directly in communities, Chasse is helping reduce what is currently a three-hour journey for water to just 15 minutes. Villagers can now stay within the safe vicinity of their homes, preventing incidents of rape and child abductions. The new water source will also allow children more time to attend school and villagers to spend time on economically fruitful projects such as properly irrigating small gardens to secure a food supply. Charity: Water volunteers will also be on hand to educate families on suitable sanitation practices to help control the spread of harmful diseases and thereby improve the overall health of the community. Today, 2,524 water projects have been funded and have afforded 1,130,986 people with clean water in 16 countries.

Interested donors can offer monthly monetary donations and/or sponsor the construction of water wells and latrines. For more information on Charity: Water and ways you can get involved, visit their Web site at www.charitywater.org.

Chasse Returns from Giving Aid in Africa

AUSTIN, TX, July 27, 2009 – Beverly Chasse, President and CEO of Chasse Consulting: Sales Strategies, Inc., has returned once again from an eye-opening, two-week mission trip to Zambia, Africa. As part of her church, Chasse and a team of missionaries met with local Zambians to discuss the need for education around AIDS, and address key issues such as the lack of food and water supply. African FamilyPartnering with nonprofit organizations, World Vision and EMPACT Africa, and local residents, Chasse’s tour made three stops, which culminated in a special treat—the opportunity to meet her African sponsor child and his family, for the first time.

The first stop on her busy itinerary: Kanyama, a village in the city of Lusaka where Chasse and other church representatives partnered with locals to determine potential opportunities to improve the education, nourishment and healthcare needs of the residents. There, she spent half a day with the founder of EMPACT Africa, overseeing the program to educate pastors on HIV/AIDS education. In Austin, Beverly is a board member for EMPACT Africa. The nonprofit tackles the devastating stigma of AIDS in Zambia, and leads workshops that train pastors how to lead their congregations and communities away from the public shame of HIV. These efforts create healing and education for the African people through practical workshops, a proven step that increases awareness and addresses the suffering caused by AIDS.

From there, Chasse traveled to Mbala where she toured World Vision’s headquarters, a humanitarian charity organization dedicated to working with children, families and their communities worldwide to reach their full potential by confronting the causes of poverty and injustice. Mission team members were touched by the progress they witnessed, first-hand—a result, no-doubt, at least partially due to the church’s on-going partnership with World Vision to build a local school and homes for teachers.

Beverly’s last, and possibly most cherished stop along her journey, was finally meeting the child she has been sponsoring through World Vision for the past 3 years.

“Meeting my sponsor child and actually seeing the impact of World Vision was breathtaking,” Chasse remembered. It was an experience she will not forget, and “an honor and a privilege to meet who I consider to be my extended family in Mbala,” she stated.

It is with renewed gratitude that Chasse returns to the United States. With vivid memories from the third-world regions, she plans to continue her support with both prayer and supplies.

“The African people are not looking for a hand out,” Chasse reminisces. “They are people looking for an extended family in America—and that is exactly what I promise to be for them.”
